The article deals with the content, structure, functions, linguistic representation of the concept "red" in a literary text based on the material of the work of F.M. Dostoevsky "The Brothers Karamazov". The relevance of the study is explained by the undying interest all over the world in the work of the great artist, as well as the need and possibility of considering Dostoevsky's work in the light of the achievements of modern sciences, such as: cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, discourse studies, etc.
The aim is to determine the place of the concept in the writer's concept sphere, to describe the individual features of the content structure of the concept and the language means of its expression, as well as the factors that contribute to the individualization of the representation of the concept in Dostoevsky's works.
In the scientific literature, the concept sphere of Dostoevsky has been studied in sufficient detail, while the subject of consideration was both the concepts of his individual works, for example, the novel The Brothers Karamazov, Idiot, Crime and Punishment, and creativity in general. The idea is openly or covertly expressed that the writer's concept sphere is a reflection of the mentality of the Russian people. The interest of researchers is always aroused by the writer's colors, which are one of the brightest means of expressing the writer's worldview and creating a figurative picture of the world in his works.
However, despite all the variety of works, one can notice the absence of special works that explore the concepts and subconcepts of color in the writer's work. In this regard, the setting of these goals in our work and their achievement determine the scientific significance of the work.
To achieve the set goals, the article uses general scientific methods of collecting material, observation, description, as well as elements of linguo-conceptual analysis, discourse analysis to identify the features of the content and expression of the concept under study.
The most general conclusions of the work: red in the work of Dostoevsky is one of the dominants of his color paradigm. The concept of "red" is very important in creating a figurative picture of the writer's world, while its content structure includes individual meanings that are updated under the influence of certain factors, for example, Dostoevsky's color painting techniques.
The practical significance of the work is that the conclusions of the work can be used in the practice of compiling dictionaries of the writer's language, a dictionary of concepts, studying the writer's work in educational institutions and in other areas.
