Abstract

The fantasy genre, which forms its place in modern Kazakh literature, is of interest not only to the reader, but also to researchers. However, despite the fact that the number of research papers on this genre in Western countries is quite large, the fantasy genre in Kazakh literature does not exceed the level of several articles. From this point of view, the relevance and scientific significance of the research work is manifested. One of the main features of the fantasy genre is the magic that occurs in the work, the fictional world, amazing creatures, etc. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the transfer of the concept of "magic" in fantasy works and to identify its influence on children and adolescents. The scientific significance of the research work lies in the analysis of the scientific ideas of foreign and domestic researchers about the fantasy genre and the determination of the significance of studying the transfer of magic, which is the main component of fantasy works. The research work used an empirical approach based on descriptive methodology. The concepts of "magic" and "fictional world" in fantasy works are determined by a comparative study of A. Almash's mini-fantasy novel "The Secret of Friends", taken as a representative of the fantasy genre in Kazakh literature, and the work of the British writer J.K. Rowling.Considering that the fantasy genre has become more and more popular among young readers in recent years, parents and teachers fear that a large number of such books will distract the younger generation from real life and replace genuine values, including religious ones. The question arises what values and points of view can be considered real in the modern world. Given the relevance of these issues, a small research paper concludes that fantasy has an emotional and cognitive impact on readers, helping them to shape their perception of themselves, others and their social world based on a questionnaire conducted to identify the influence of works written in the fantasy genre, for children and teenagers. As a practical value of the research work, we note the possibility of adoption in the development of curricula for secondary schools, taking into account its conclusions and discussions, and can be used as additional material in lectures related to modern literature taught in higher educational institutions.
