PRAGMATIC ASPECT OF ONOMATOPOEIC WORDS IN INTER-LANGUAGE TRANSMISSION

Abstract

This article presents the interlingual pragmatic aspect of onomatopoeic words in the framework of a doctoral dissertation on the topic «The Pragmalinguistic aspect of the Literary Translation of J. Rowling «Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone». The article presents the problem of translating onomatopoeic words, which occupy an important place in the language and culture of the Kazakh and English peoples. Onomatopoeic words play an important role in language, conveying the sound, and often the emotional side of phenomena.

The purpose of the work is to study the features of the translation of onomatopoeic words, taking into account their pragmatic function in the text. The main areas of research include the analysis of the influence of cultural and linguistic characteristics on the translation of onomatopoeia, as well as the development of strategies for adequately conveying the pragmatic meaning of these phrases.

The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of onomatopoeic phrases in parallel texts in different languages. Attention is paid to the features of translating onomatopoeic units from one language to another, as well as to various translation methods, such as literal translation and equivalent translation. The pragmatic aspect plays an important role. There is a discrepancy between the sounds and meanings of onomatopoeic words in the Kazakh and English languages, as well as cultural and social differences. It analyzes how onomatopoeic words influence the perception and thinking of texts in two languages ​​and cultures. The issue of translators' consideration of pragmatic factors, such as cultural tone and context, when transmitting onomatopoeic units is explored.

The results of the study help to expand the understanding of the pragmatic aspect of onomatopoeic words and provide useful recommendations to translators and linguists working in interlingual communication. It also highlights the importance of pragmatics when translating onomatopoeic units and provides a new opportunity for translators seeking to preserve the emotional resonance of the original.
