Abstract

Phraseological units, tales and legends containing demonologems are of particular importance in the formation of national consciousness in the knowledge of the environment.

The purpose of the article is to study cognitive information about demonological characters in Kazakh and English, related to precedent names and to compare their linguopragmatic potential.

The relevance of the article is explained by the fact that research in the direction of cognitive linguistics is aimed at distinguishing the relationship between national knowledge, language and real world. The work was carried out in the linguoculturological direction. The scientific significance is determined by the conclusions obtained as aresult of the application of the method of linguoculturological analysis of demonsin Kazakh and English, as they clarify the linguistic picture of the world of Kazakhs and English, expand the idea of the mentality of members of these linguistic communities. The method of comparative analysis, methods of cognitive interpretation, description, continuous selection and classification of the material were used.

The psychological portrait of some demons was compared with the national-cognitive point of view, explicit, implicit information was collected, their national characteristics and common similarities were listed.

Demonologems are considered as ethnomarker vocabulary, their participation in the creation of a term is proved.The fact that in modern society the linguistic personality has a high interest in learning information about mystical forces is not disputed. From this point of view, the comparative consideration of demons in Kazakh and English within the framework of cognitive linguistics can be called the value of the work.

The practical significance lies in the fact that some of the research results can be used in comparative linguistics, linguoculturology, cognitive linguistics, the practice of teaching Kazakh and English, as well as in the development of topics of term papers, the compilation of explanatory dictionaries.
