Abstract

This article focuses on the analysis of artistic kinship in the prose of Mukhtar Auezov and Ernest Hemingway from the perspective of comparative literature studies. The main objective of the research is to identify the harmony of common ideas and aesthetic pursuits in the works of two writers shaped by different national and historical-cultural contexts. In particular, the article explores universal themes such as the relationship between humans and nature, spiritual resilience, the struggle between life and death, and resistance to war and violence – all comparatively examined through the prose of both authors.

The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis of the profound artistic and spiritual affinities between the works of Auezov and Hemingway, as well as in identifying their literary characteristics. The practical significance of the research is explained by its potential to reveal intercultural interaction and the place of artistic techniques and stylistic approaches within the global literary process.

The study applies comparative, intertextual, stylistic, and content analysis methods. The research objects include such works as Kokserek and The Old Man and the Sea, Qyly Zaman and A Farewell to Arms, The Qarash-Qarash Incident and For Whom the Bell Tolls.

The results reveal both authors’ focus on psychological depth and symbolism, and their use of such literary techniques as the “iceberg principle” and the implied monologue. The study also highlights the similarity of their moral and ethical perspectives, including themes of humanism, spiritual endurance, and the pursuit of justice.

This research offers new insights into the spiritual kinship between Auezov’s and Hemingway’s works, emphasizing the possibilities of artistic convergence between Kazakh and world literature. The findings can be applied in the fields of comparative literature, cultural studies, and translation theory.
