This article presents a comprehensive study of the metatextual structure of literary discourse through the lenses of narratology, hermeneutics and cognitive. The relevance research lies in its alignment with current interdisciplinary approaches in the humanities. The primary objective is to identify the features of the formation and functioning of metatext as a multilayered semantic phenomenon with significant communicative and interpretative potential. The material for analysis comprises works by contemporary Kazakh writers, which are of particular interest due to their complex architectonics. The article explores various forms of metatextual inclusions authorial remarks, embedded narratives and intertextual references – as elements that enrich the narrative structure and engage the reader in the co-creation of meaning. The methodological framework includes comparative-typological, structural-semantic, and narratological analyses, the cognitive-discursive approach, and methods of literary hermeneutics. This allows for a deeper understanding of how metatextual elements influence text composition and define the locus of interpretation by activating readers’ cognitive-perceptive patterns.
The findings reveal that metatextual structures foster the generation of multiple meanings and blur the boundaries between text and intertext, as well as between author and reader. The analysis of poetic texts with a focus on their architectonics raises crucial about the nature of the literary work as a complex, multidimensional philosophical system closely linked to other texts and cultural contexts. The philosophical significance of a literary text emerges not only from its internal features but also from its place in the cultural space and the individual experience of each reader. The interaction between text, reader, and culture proves to be key in uncovering the deep philosophical layers of poetic meaning.
The scientific novelty lies in a systematic view of metatext as an integrative category at the intersection of narratological, hermeneutic, and cognitive analyses. Theoretical and practical implications extend to literary criticism and cognitive linguistics studies.
