Abstract

Podcasts are a modern genre of media communication and serve as a linguistic tool used and analysed in various discursive contexts. This article examines the discursive nature of the Kazakh-language podcast Zamandas, including its structural, pragmatic and communicative features. The aim of the study is to identify the linguistic, pragmatic and interactive characteristics of podcast discourse, to define it as an independent type of media discourse, and to describe the parameters that shape communication between the sender and the recipient. The main research methods used are discourse analysis, content analysis and pragmatic interpretation. The study analyzes speech strategies, communicative intentions, and methods of audience interaction in podcast texts. As a result of the study, forty episodes of the Zamandas podcast were grouped into seven thematic areas. The scientific novelty and value of the work lies in the fact that the discursive nature of podcasts in the Kazakhstani media space has been revealed for the first time. During the analysis of the Zamandas podcast, six discourse-forming parameters were identified. The theoretical significance of the study lies in explaining the nature of new linguistic forms of modern communication through the study of podcast discourse from a media-linguistic and pragmatic perspective. The practical significance of the study is determined by the possibility of using its results in the educational process when teaching the disciplines “Media Discourse”, “Media Translation: Content Analysis and Localisation”, and “Field Translation”. In addition, the study demonstrates the potential of podcasts as an effective tool for language teaching, the development of media literacy, and the fostering of communicative culture. In conclusion, the study identifies Zamandas as one of the most rapidly developing Kazakh-language podcasts, as evidenced by five key factors. The findings may serve as a theoretical basis for further research on podcast discourse.
