Abstract

The article examines the cognitive and folkloric image of spiritual values reflected in kara ölen. The object of analysis is the collection Qara ölen included in the hundred-volume series Babalar sözi (“The Words of the Ancestors”). Definitions of the words knowledge, mind (reason), white (purity, light), art, and dombra are provided based on Explanatory Dictionaries of the Kazakh Language, and their meanings are revealed. The semantic and educational significance of linguistic units in kara ölen is identified through conceptual analysis. Frame structures expressing the concepts of knowledge, mind, white (purity, light), art, and dombra are studied.

The relevance of the study lies in the current focus of cognitive linguistic research on uncovering the national worldview and the interrelation between language and objective reality. The research is conducted within the framework of linguoculturology, folkloristics, and literary studies.

The aim of the work is to reveal the meanings of the concepts knowledge, mind, white (purity, light), art, and dombra represented in kara ölen, to determine their cultural and cognitive characteristics, and to define their place in linguistic and cultural memory.

Revealing the cognitive nature of linguistic units in folklore texts makes it possible to understand linguistic data that reflect the worldview, cultural perception, and everyday life of the people.

The study employs methods of analysis and synthesis, description, comparison, substantiation, and conceptual analysis. As a result of a thorough study of the language of Kazakh folk lyric poetry, frames, mental images, scenario and schematic structures were collected and analyzed, revealing the meanings of linguistic units and lexemes that reflect spiritual values in folk consciousness. The obtained results contribute to the development of cognitive linguistics.

The study’s scientific contribution lies in its potential to advance deeper research within evaluation theory. Its practical relevance is reflected in the applicability of its findings to the development of emerging linguistic disciplines, including cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, and ethnolinguistics. Moreover, the materials of the research can be used in teaching and developing special courses in linguistic analysis of literary texts, folkloristics, and literary studies.
