Abstract

The article examines the intricate dynamics of bilingualism and multilingualism involving the Kazakh, Russian, and English languages. Bilingualism is classified into transferential and endogenous types, with the latter representing the highest level. In such cases, individuals maintain Russian as their primary mode of thought, while their internal and external discourse exhibits a harmonious equilibrium between the two languages. The necessity for language translation decreases as linguistic proficiency becomes intuitive and consistent. Individuals adept at utilising an array and stylistic resources in languages, their linguistic choices with the context. In contrast, other forms of bilingualism, such as monolingualism and second-language use, exhibit reduced flexibility and practicality. These forms depend on the trajectory of linguistic development. The complex nature of bilingualism is deeply connected with a nation's linguistic practices, and as national languages evolve and transform, so too does the status of the Russian language.

In a linguistically diverse society, mastering a native language while attaining proficiency in an recognized language is crucial for full participation in social, cultural, and linguistic activities. This environment has enriched both the theoretical and practical understanding of and language phenomena. The complexity and multifaceted nature of these phenomena have significantly shaped the development of diverse and sometimes contradictory discourses on bilingualism and multilingualism.

Variations in proficiency in additional languages highlight distinct contrasts and subtle nuances in comprehension. These differences from experts across various disciplines, each analyzing specific aspects through methodologies and conceptual frameworks to study bilingualism and multilingualism. Furthermore, ideological perspectives and orientations also shape these analyses.
