Abstract

The article examines the structural and semantic characteristics of ergonyms in Kazakhstan based on the names of organizations operating in the sphere of funeral services. The relevance of the study is determined by the highly dynamic nature of ergonymic vocabulary, which reflects the linguistic, cultural, and socio-communicative specificity of contemporary urban space, as well as by the insufficient study of nomination in the funeral services sphere.

The aim of the study is to identify the structural and semantic features of ergonyms used in funeral services and to classify them with regard to linguistic and extralinguistic factors. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of naming models, their representation in different languages, and their semantic organization.

The scientific significance of the research lies in its comprehensive approach to the study of the form and meaning of ergonyms on the basis of contemporary material, which makes it possible to clarify the specific features of Kazakhstan’s onomastic space. The practical significance of the study is associated with the possibility of using its results in further research and educational practice, including the monitoring of onomastic processes and the language situation in the country.

The methodological framework of the study includes descriptive, comparative, and statistical methods, as well as componential analysis, which made it possible to identify key semantic components.

As a result of the analysis of 135 ergonyms, the predominance of one-component and Russian-language names was established, alongside the presence of multilingual models with an emphasis on national (Kazakh) naming. The main semantic tendencies were identified, in particular the realization of the “light–dark” opposition and the tendency toward euphemization through symbolic and culturally marked images. The value of the study lies in revealing naming patterns that reflect features of public consciousness and manifestations of linguistic creativity in the context of the funeral services sphere, thereby contributing to the development of onomastics and sociolinguoculturology.
