The article is devoted to determining the connection of phraseological units that characterize speech behavior with other parts of speech. The aim of the work is to describe phraseological units expressing speech behavior in texts collected from the National Corpus, as well as to convey the meaning of phraseological units in passages. The research problem is relevant, since there are few full-fledged studies conducted on the basis of the national corpus about phraseological units representing speech behavior. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time research is being carried out on the basis of examples from the National Corpus on the basis of phraseological units that characterize the colorfulness of eloquence in speech among phraseological units that characterize speech behavior.
This work is one of the studies using the achievements of linguistics, which are currently being intensively developed. The national corpus of the language, in addition to the dictionary form of language units, reflects the image of the natural usage of the phraseological units in the language. Corpuses provide a good opportunity to study phraseological units. The use of phraseological units, determining with which parts of speech they are often used, is one of the goals of this study. The results from this study provide language researchers with valuable information about the usage of English phraseological units in the language. The study uses methods of continuous sampling and quantitative-statistical methods.
As part of the study, several results were obtained: in particular, phraseological units representing speech behavior were selected. Phraseological units expressing speech behavior were divided into a group of phraseological units characterizing the way of conducting a conversation, and phraseological units characterizing the content of the conversation. The phraseological units which are determinants of speech behaviour identified in the analysis have been divided into phraseological units which reflect the colourfulness of eloquence in speech. Examples of these phraseological units were collected from the British National Corpus of language and connections with parts of speech were shown.
