THE MEANING OF KAZAKH TIME UNITS IN HISTORICAL EPICS

In the article the names of folk measurements that represent time and their etymology are considered on the basis of the texts of historical epics. The purpose of the article is to study the language of historical epics in a cognitive aspect, which are considered the national value of our language. The study of the language of folklore is an opportunity to get information from the culture and knowledge of particular nation. Looking at the content of historical texts, language units that define the concept of "time» were selected from the lines of the epic. On the basis of this, it is possible to determine the knowledge of our people about time. The scientific significance of the research work is a theoretical addition to works related to cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, linguo folklore studies. Practical significance of the article: the results of the study can be used to compile lectures and in the preparation of educational and methodological complexes of special courses such as "Linguo folklore studies», "Cognitive linguistics», "Linguoculturology".
The methods of language analysis, comparison, cognitive analysis are used in the article. The main results and solutions of our research work have been developed. An example from the texts of historical poems was taken, and language units related to time were grouped according to their meaning. They were classified as: 1) indigenous units of time, which arose due to religious beliefs; 2) names related to natural phenomena; 3) names related to human activity; 4) names based on the farm, the vital activity of livestock. It can be seen that time in historical poems was considered important for the heroes of the poem and they used time efficiently. At the same time, it can be seen that the language units that represent the time that arose in that time are still in active use. According to the author, the names of folk dimensions were formed through the thinking system of the people, knowledge of the environment, everyday life and entered into use in the lexicon of our language. The ways in which the names of measures representing time are presented in historical poems, their meaning and significance were described. It turned out that these language units are connected with the way of life, culture and thinking of our people.
