The article under research deals with intercultural communication, its types and features which is very topical in language learning and when confronted with foreign cultures today. The article discusses the key issues as intercultural communication, intercultural communication competence, two main types of cross-cultural communication: verbal and non-verbal communication, their features, differences. The topic of intercultural communication is discussed and researched time by time by many scholars. Our aim is also to analyze intercultural communication from the practical perspective, and to give our contribution to the field. The aim of publication is to discuss and differentiate the important features, preconditions, types of intercultural communication in training linguists to communicate interculturally. The article highlights the essence of intercultural competence, intercultural communication competence, difference between verbal and non-verbal communications, which type of communication is effective in communicating with foreign cultures.
The research methods are descriptive, comparative and contrastive, analytical, pragmatic analysis. The research methodology is analytical research review of the works of scholars who dealt with intercultural communication theory and practice. The research topic, research object and research materials are significant from the theoretical and practical aspects with the reason of the article helpful tool for young researchers, language learners, students.
The authors try to define the terms intercultural communication, intercultural communication competence, verbal and non-verbal communications. At the same time, the features, characteristics, effectiveness degree, practical recommendations are suggested as the research results. The researchers give practical tips to use verbal or non-verbal communication when communicating with foreign cultures. The practical approach to deal with the topical theme facilitates students, master course students when preparing to the seminars, to feel the difference between communication types, to master theory and practice of intercultural communication.
