FUNCTIONING OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE (ON THE MATERIAL OF SPEECHES OF KAZAKH POLITICIANS)

Abstract

The article presents an analysis of phraseological units used in the speech of Kazakh politicians to characterize socio-political processes. The purpose of the study is a linguistic study of set expressions, identifying the main trends in their functioning, as well as the intentions of the author. The scientific and practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of further study of the functioning of phraseological units in the political discursive space. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive analysis of set expressions used by Kazakh politicians, the classification of evaluative phraseological units, and the identification of trends in transformation. A study of various types of modifications, which are a reflection of the national and cultural picture of the human world, is presented. Phraseological level linguistic units perform a number of functions in the national linguocultural reality related to the possibilities of identification, worldview ways of reflecting the surrounding world, as well as institutional and axiological properties. The value of the study is determined by understanding that various modifications of phraseological units in the speech of politicians are the result of individual language-creative thinking. The politician, changing the basic formal structure, semantics, introducing different connotative semantic shades of phraseological units, expresses his emotional assessment of experiences and enhances the main pragmatic function of the statement in political discourse. Thanks to the unique linguistic and creative thinking of the author, phraseological units undergo various kinds of changes that are closely related to the contextual background, situation, pragmatic function and other accompanying characteristics of political discourse. The practical significance of the results of the work is determined by the possibility of using the results of the study in teaching university courses in lexicology and phraseology, political linguistics, text theory and discourse.
