LINGUISTIC PICTURE OF THE WORLD OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE COGNITIVE APPROACH

Abstract

Recently, there has been a growing interest among linguistic communities in the study of national-cultural characteristics and linguistic structure of the world, as well as in the generalisation of patterns in the field of anthropocentric linguistics, which is in the style of several scientific disciplines. This interest is manifested in various concepts of linguistics.

In spite of the key studies conducted in recent advances in the field of world phraseology, one of the most significant challenges remains the clear definition of the subject area of phraseology as an independent scientific discipline. The aim of this research article is to clarify the global understanding of phraseology within the framework of the cognitive-cognitive approach.

The main focus of our research is the study of general patterns of anthropocentric linguistics that arise at the intersection of several scientific disciplines such as linguistics, psycholinguistics, phraseology, cognitive linguistics and linguocultural studies. We consider the idea of representing national-cultural and linguistic world pictures through the prism of phraseology.

The scientific significance of our study lies in the possibility of using phraseologies for deeper understanding of scientific concepts with the help of new scientific paradigms such as conceptualisation, categorisation, verbalisation, mentality, concept, world image, conceptuosphere, and others. The practical ingenuity lies in the possibility of applying the developed concepts to better understand and explore scientific categories.

The relevance of this article is manifested through several important aspects. First of all, it should be noted that phraseological meanings reflect the national, fitting into the cultural context, and also embody the literary aspects of the language used by the speakers of a given language. Secondly, idiomatic expressions used by the users of a given language are always firmly linked to their individual interests, everyday actions and interactions in society. One of the research methods applied in this paper is descriptive analysis, which provides an opportunity for a more in-depth and comprehensive modification of the phraseological result and the criterion of accuracy in determining the behaviour characteristic of the speakers of a given language.

Based on the arguments presented above and the analysis carried out, the scientific study has led to the following conclusion: the uniqueness of aspects of the mentality of a given people has been revealed through the analysis of linguistic structures, which is a manifestation of the complex of cultural traditions and values that have developed in the linguistic material. The phraseological factor, considered as carriers of cultural identity, provides an opportunity to formulate an answer to the question of what mental images and representations have arisen in people when approaching these expressions. Thus, the study of phraseology in cultural aspects has contributed to the expansion of the subject areas of psycholinguistics, phraseology, cognitive linguistics and linguocultural studies.
