Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the functioning of languages in the Pavlodar Irtysh region, which is historically a polyethnic and multilingual region. The article was written within the framework of grant funding for scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects for 2021-2023. This work is funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (grant AR09259988).

The aim of this work is to characterize the linguistic life in the northern region of Kazakhstan, to describe the interaction of Kazakh, Russian and other languages in the conditions that have changed during the years of independence of Kazakhstan, when the status of the Kazakh language as a state language is legislatively enshrined, the free and equal development of all other languages is proclaimed, and also to substantiate the need for the development of languages in the northern region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The author believes that a comprehensive study of linguistic contacts from regional positions is an urgent problem of the spiritual uplift and development of polyethnic Kazakhstan.

The article emphasizes that in Kazakhstan, on a fundamentally new basis, an active language policy was developed, aimed at developing the languages of all ethnic groups and ethnic groups living in multinational Kazakhstan. At the same time, the author of the article also points out the existing problem: the persisting linguistic heterogeneity of the regions of Kazakhstan has an increasingly significant impact on its full-fledged linguistic development.

Using specific examples of toponyms, names of realities of nature, names of animals, social and administrative terminology, cult terminology, names of customs, rituals, everyday life, etc., the author characterizes the processes of interaction of languages in the Pavlodar Priirtysh region, concludes that the In the region, the imbalance in the use of languages is gradually being overcome.

Borrowings from the Kazakh language in Russian can be considered in two aspects: in the functional, i.e. in terms of identifying the most actively interacting functional spheres of languages, their territorial, social and professional dialects, and in the proper lexical terms, i.e. in relation to the most actively interacting and, as a result, the most developing lexico-semantic categories of vocabulary.

The work makes a certain contribution to the development of the problems of sociolinguistics. Her work results can be used in the practice of teaching sociolinguistics at a university. It is of interest for specialists in the field of sociolinguistics, applied linguistics in general, for students, undergraduates studying the issues of interaction of languages, language construction, language policy.
