Abstract

The article describes the author's experience of creating a textbook on translation studies in the Kazakh language, the relevance of which publication lies in the practical absence of educational and methodological support in the country's universities of the educational process in the specialty "Translation Studies" in the state language. All materials have been tested by the author for many years when teaching various translation disciplines to students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the translation department of the philological faculty of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

The main goal of this textbook was the formation of the professional competence of the future translator, namely its components: communicative, special, strategic, social and personal competences. At the same time, the novelty and main idea of the textbook is the implementation of the idea of trilingualism based on the native Kazakh language in the development of both theoretical and practical material.

For the first time in Kazakh translation studies, the textbook systematically presents the basic concepts of the science of translation, which are revealed in the following sequence: “Translation as a science” (chapter 1), “Typology of translation activity” (chapter 2), “Translation equivalence” (chapter 3), “ Pragmatics of Translation” (сhapter 4), “Process of Translation” (сhapter 5), “Training of Translators” (сhapter 6), “Native and Foreign Translation Studies” (сhapter 7).

The content of the textbook reflects the results, analysis and conclusions of the author's many years of research work in the field of theory, practice and methodology of translation, grouped as in text material. as well as charts and tables.

After each chapter, there are questions and tasks for self-control, tests, as well as tasks for independent work, designed to develop students' cognitive interest, logical thinking, and creative activity. As tasks, texts of varying complexity and nature (from reproductive to creative) were selected. At the end, the author's glossary of translation terms is given with equivalents in three languages - Kazakh, Russian and English.

Thus, the system-activity, competence-based and personality-oriented approaches were implemented in the textbook.

The great practical significance of the results of the work lies in the fact that the textbook is aimed at a wide range of users: students, undergraduates, doctoral students, as well as teachers of translation, translators-practitioners.
