Abstract

The presented article was carried out within the framework of the critical discourse research (CDS) paradigm. The purpose of the work is to identify the thematic list of cultural narratives in media diasporalogical sources. The main directions and ideas of the article are presented in line with modern anthropological concepts, according to which the formation of identity is largely determined by mass media models. The medialogical manifestation of the diaspora, as proven in the article, is not limited to the cultural or media fixation of the interests of the ethnic group: it creates the image of the diaspora and shapes its identity. The combination of republican ethnic publications and independent new media, with the narratives presented in them, became such a form of both social control and a means of forming the identity of diasporas in Kazakhstan. The medialogical existence of diasporas in Kazakhstan is manifested in how the diaspora itself presents itself, in what forms of media it appears, with what content and to whom it comes out. In most cases, ethnic publications offer their own thematically limited media product, in which three basic narratives are identified: 1) historical narrative, 2) cultural-ethnographic narrative, and 3) personalized narrative (story about representatives of the diaspora). The scientific novelty and significance of the work are due to the analysis of the conceptual space of national media in Kazakhstan undertaken for the first time. In turn, the practical significance of the article and the results obtained in it are important for further research within the framework of critical discourse analysis, for the formation of the cultural policy of the ethnic associations themselves, and for modern journalistic theory and practice. The research methodology is based on an interdisciplinary interface, in which an objective ethnological approach corresponds with modern medialogical concepts. The main results were obtained as a result of a specific analysis of the current media practice in Kazakhstan. The article is useful in the methodological aspect for philological, linguocultural and anthropological studies. The practical significance of the results of the work is important for organizing the work of ethnic organizations, as well as for teaching disciplines that have media discourse as the object of consideration.
