FEATURES OF USING THE COMMUNICATIVE STRATEGY OF CENSURE IN A POLITICAL INTERVIEW

Abstract

The article analyzes the strategy of censure in political communication based on the interview with US President Joe Biden. The study of the communicative strategy of censure in the initiating remark of the interviewer is of great research interest and allows us to reflect the behavioral features of the communication participants. The purpose of the study is to systematize the communicative tactics that implement censure in the interviewer's speech. The selection of speech means that implement this communicative goal of the journalist reveals the behavioral features of the communication participants, conditioned by the speech genre of the political interview, in general. The objective of the article is to clarify the concepts of political interview, censure strategy, censure tactics.

 The results of the study contribute to the study of evaluative statements in political texts. The research uses the methods of contextual, component and pragmalinguistic analysis. During the study, it was found that the tactics of reproach, accusation, irony and comparison implement censure in a political interview. The practical material demonstrates the strategic use of speech means at the lexical-semantic and syntactic levels to achieve the interviewer’s communicative goal. It is worth noting the use of expressive-evaluative nouns, adjectives and verbs with a negative connotation. In addition, repetitions and syntactic parallelism are often used to strengthen the censure. A rhetorical question plays a special role at the syntactic level, which is one of the effective ways to influence the addressee. It should be emphasized that with the help of censure, the journalist expresses criticism, finds out the political position of the interviewee. The practical value of the work lies in the use of the main findings for research in the field of evaluative statements in political communication.
