Abstract

This article explores the voice category in the Kazakh language as a key morphological category of the Kazakh language system. Voice forms are analyzed comprehensively from the perspective of cognitive and functional linguistics, focusing on their structural, semantic, and pragmatic functions.

The main objective of the study is to identify how voice forms are realized through linguistic units and to describe their syntactic, semantic and conceptual characteristics. Additionally, the study aims to analyze grammatical mechanisms that reflect the relationship between subject and object within the speech act.

The relevance of the research arises from the need to interpret the category of voice not only as a morphological phenomenon but also as a cognitive structure, linguistic concept and a means of conveying communicative intention.

The article demonstrates through authentic language data how voice forms reflect the directionality of action, participant roles, and the cognitive experience of both the speaker and the listener.

The descriptive method is used to determine the internal meanings and functions of voice forms. The structural method reveals valence structures and the interaction of sentence constituents. The comparative method highlights typological continuities between Old Turkic and modern Kazakh voice forms.

The literature review considers the contributions of Kazakh scholars such as A. Baitursynuly, O. Zhubayeva, A. Salkynbay and Zh. Tuimebayev, as well as theoretical frameworks proposed by international linguists including F. Katamba, J. Stonham, F. Zuniga and S. Kittila. Their theories are  aligned them with the typological features of the Kazakh language.

The theoretical significance of the study lies in the conceptualization of voice within a cognitive-pragmatic framework. Its practical value is related to the applicability of voice forms in language teaching, translation, discourse analysis, and artificial intelligence systems.
