Linguistic problems of the concept of media text and media discourse in the contemporary media space are considered in this article. The problems of rhetoric in media discourse and the social stylistics of media texts are also investigated. The main purpose of the article is to identify the problems of media discourse rhetoric and the social stylistics of media texts in contemporary Kazakh media space. Following the above-mentioned purpose, the following questions will be addressed in the article: identifying the true duties of communicative processes in media discourse; defining the properties of rhetorical conversation in the moment of media discourse; analyzing traditional concepts of classical rhetoric as ethos, logos and pathos as a modern picture of the universe. At the same time, new genres such as digest, news-feature, talk shows, which have become an integral part of communication in the media space and media styles in general, will be covered in this article.
In the article rhetoric of media discourse is defined as the science of the power (influence) of words in media communication and its final product - the media text. The attention is focused on the components of rhetorical communication. The article also considers the main problems of speech activity - persuasion of the listener, peculiarities of motivated speech and determinants of rhetorically organised media text.
The authors of the article believe that the impact of a media text lies not only in the relevance of information, but also in the way it is presented. The article analyses the rhetorical nature of media speech and ways of persuading the reader in media discourse. Another aspect of media communication is the problem of social origin or social stylistics, which reflects the social behaviour of communicators.
The research methods used during the study include generalisation of theoretical material, concretisation and their classification. The following methods were used to analyse practical materials: description of media process modelling, rhetorical and linguistic analysis of media texts, comparative analysis, etc.
